Day 1: Life is Beautiful

“Life is amazing. And then it’s awful. And then it’s amazing again. And in between the amazing and awful it’s ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That’s just living, heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful.” -L.R. Knost

I loved this quote the first time I read it, because life really is beautiful.  It is easy to get caught up in the awful moments and forget to relax and take in the amazing moments. The awful moments seem to linger while the amazing moments seem to be gone in a flash. Speaking of the awful moments that seem to take over one’s life, I lost my mother, survived a divorce, became a single mom to three children under the age of six, learned to live life as a single mom, and then I lost my father all in a matter of the last two years. So, one can pry imagine that trying to find the amazing again has been quite the journey. A journey where I have felt defeated over and over. Two weeks ago, I realized that I needed to find myself again.
